Portfolio

I am currently seeking children's book illustration representation.

Coming from a desire to build magical worlds for kids and my own relationship with my lovely 8 year-old stepson, all of the work in this section of my portfolio is designed to appeal to children, tell a story, and draw both adult and children readers in.

In order for narrative illustrations to feel like they matter, I've developed story threads and character concepts to guide the direction of this portfolio.

My process involves sketching with a fountain pen in my sketchbook. Direct ink, no pencilling. I then scan my sketches, clean them up, and add digital colours and textures, painting using minimal layers to give each image a handmade feeling.

I find that nothing can replace the liveliness of sketchy ink lines in my notebook. Separating the sketching process from painting allows me to focus on each step without distraction.
